UCMUN XXI Opening Ceremonies
Delegates were officially welcomed to the 21st annual UConn Model United Nations Conference at its opening ceremonies Friday night! Secretary-General Mary Vlamis spoke on the debate, collaboration and conversation she hopes the conference inspires throughout the weekend.
Guest speaker Lembe Tiky, a UConn professor of comparative politics and international relations, spoke on the origins of the United Nations in the aftermath of World War II and the role the organization has played in shaping various historical events, such as the Cold War and the 2010 elections in Cote d’Ivoire.
After Tiky’s speech, Director-General Chloe Gannon took roll call and officially opened the conference!
