See why hundreds of students choose UCMUN…
What is UCMUN?
The University of Connecticut Model United Nations is a student-run organization that aims to foster international awareness through its annual conference. Every November, hundreds of high school students gather at the UConn Storrs campus to participate in realistic committee simulations, engage in substantive debate, and learn from their fellow delegates. UCMUN is a learning conference, meaning that our staff aspires to guide delegates toward understanding the values of cooperation, diversity, and compromise while encouraging them to be active, compassionate leaders. As UCMUN prepares for its twenty-sixth conference, we continue to strive to fulfill this mission and work to make our conference the best that it can be. With new committees and a committed staff, we are eager to present an exciting twenty-sixth conference.
Beginning in April 1999, a group of students from the UConn International Relations Association began exploring the possibility of instituting a high school Model United Nations conference at the University. Before the semester ended, the group officially formed UCMUN, whose sole purpose is to produce a high school Model United Nations conference for young aspiring minds. Over the last few years, UCMUN has grown to serve over 400 delegates across the Northeast. In November, UCMUN 2025 will be the twenty-seventh annual conference at the University of Connecticut’s Storrs Campus.
Why UCMUN?
Explore UConn
UConn’s beautiful campus in Storrs, CT allows delegates and advisors to experience what our university has to offer. You are more than welcome to tour campus before, during, or after conference. You’ll get accustomed with the campus layout and hopefully you’ll be a Husky one day. Don’t forget to check out the painted UCMUN rock!
Think Differently
We pride ourselves on challenging students to think critically, improve their teamwork, collaboration, and negotiation skills. Three days of debate and five committee sessions can be grueling but rewarding. We hope delegates leave the conference having a greater awareness of global issues, equipped with the tools and motivation to make a difference for themselves and their communities.
Engage with Others
Throughout the conference, you’ll meet make new friends in committee during breaks or during the delegate socials. Some of our best friendships were formed during Model UN conference and we hope you leave with a new friend. Schools across the Northeast attend our conference and you may make a friend that lives in another state then you.
